Subject:the band beginning with p
For maybe 20 years it was that band (I think it began with a p)which made some of the best sessions on the Peel and Jensen shows in the early eighties (and you can't say there wasn't much competition). But I'd forgotten the name, and it bugged me for twenty years - even my clued-up music loving friends couldn't help me. About a year ago I stumbled across a Peel sessions site while surfing the web, and it occurred to me that I could solve the problem that had been bugging me for so long. So I scrolled down the very long list looking for 'p's and as soon as I saw it it came back to me....so it was straight onto Youtube, where I was very surprised to see the videos and then this site via the comments. Now I can listen all over again whenever I like. You guys deserved a lot more back then, but I'm sure you take consolation and enjoy some good old righteous indignation in knowing how good you were. Cheers

Subject:Personal Column
I used to be in a band called A Select Committee, we were around the same time as personal column. Wonderful to hear the songs again, I always thought Marc was a star. Great songs, graet tragedy they didn't make it big. Thanks for the wonderful memories.

Subject:Great to hear this band again
I was a teenager when these recordings were made. I never saw Personal Column live, though I would have loved to. Somewhere in the loft I have a load of cassette tapes with recordings of the band's music, taped from the radio (BBC radio Merseyside's "Street Life", and John Peel). I keep thinking about transferring all those tapes to mp3, but never get round to it; they probably won't play any more :-( Most of that stuff you can't buy anywhere, and I'd given up any hope of being able to find Personal Column tracks. So I am really chuffed to have stumbled upon this site (it was a random web browsing thing triggered by listening to recent Janice Long interview with Ian McNabb...which reminded me of listening to Street Life and all the other great bands from that time in Liverpool). I was amazed at how many tracks I remembered and could sing along too, even though I hadn't heard them for over 20 years. These songs have really stood the test of time, OK so they have a very 80s feel (er yes, of course) but they are basically great tunes with intelligent lyrics...Strictly Confidential seems even more relevant today in the internet age than it was back in the day! Thanks Personal Column for making this great music. I wish you'd been more successful; you deserved it more than some of those who made it big. Thanks (to whoever is responsible) for creating this great site, it's really taken me back in time and I feel like I've found a long lost friend :-) Cheers.
